Well, the a Honda city comes with the worst of tires; review here ( http://carsinindia.com/cityvtec.asp ), but the mags you get are awesome... Case in point being the fact that MRF rally team continues to use mags from the old Honda City..
My suggestion would be to stick to the Mags that come stock and not replace them. They are 175/65 R14 (tubeless) as you can see here( http://carsinindia.com/cvtecspec.asp ) so, the mags should only be able to accomodate at most a 205/65 R14 at best, but we called up the people at peninsular Honda and they told us that a 195/60 should be good for both ride and handling... |

thanks for your advice, i am taking delivery from hallmark honda nerul, they are telling me i should go for 185/65/14 as it will not affect either ride quality nor fuel economy, your comments pls |

Well, the Honda City VTec is rather powerful and all the power simply cannot be put down to the road with skinny tires, economy shouldn't be much cause for concern with the increase of the tread width by 10mm, Go for 195/65 R14.
The ride is affected by the profile and the profile is the percentage of the width of the tire, note that in a tire which has 195/65 R14 written on it, 195 stands for 195mm of tread, 65 stands for 65% of width=sidewall height and R for radial and 14 for 14" diameter.
So, if you go higher on tread width and decrease the profile a bit, ride shouldn't take a beating(theoratically but it also depends on compound of the tire). 185/65 R14 will perform adequately under most conditions, but it is only when you let the 100 stallions loose that you will feel the need for wider rubber... |

well, you could fit a 195/60 R14 and it would be the logical way to go if you are looking for better handling, but comfort and ride quality will be bit hampered.
One piece of advice is to change the tires as soon as you leave the showroom, or if you have the option, change them at the showroom itself.
You stand to lose lots of money if you use up your tires even for a few hundred kilometers |

| once again thanx, admin i am going to drive straight to a tyre dealer in vashi the moment i get the delivery, still he will reduce 200-300 per tyre, postmaster, civic manual cost 11.99 OTR thane vtec cost me 8.80 OTR, so difference is their, civic comes in a deffernet segment, your argument is valid but not my budget, thnx anyway, i will update u all after i get the delivery on tuesday |

Actually I hadn't much idea about the prices, The newspaper mentioned 10. something and the vtec retails for about 9 point something here...
But the road taxes and everything push the car away........... |

if i'm not mistaken, honda tyre are do(dealer option)
most dealers give a choice between good year gps2 and bridgestone s322.
both are good tyres....but if ur looking at an upsize, do check out the bigger accelere...base your choice on the following factors:
1. road condition- smoother the road shorter the sidewall is the way to go.
2. efficiency- bigger contact patch, less efficient and more load on eps but helps handling. |
