hi guys,
as mentioned in the tech for the week article bout ABS, that depending on the variations in the speed of various tyres the brake pressures are varied, the ques is that.. Is stability control system integrated with the ABS.. like when you wanna steer your car when breakin wont it be better to let the wheels turn at different rates so that you can have better sttering or some mechanism like this.. for that to happen the SCS should be integrated with the ABS.
anybody knows how it is?? i guess they are integrated.. |

| lol... i found out that SCS and ABS are one and the same.. SCS a lil improved version of ABS.. ABS in 1978, TRACTION CONTROL in 1985, and STBILITY CONTROL in 1995.. |

Dude, you seem bit confused and yes ABS(anti-lock braking system), EBD(Electronic brake force distribution) and Traction control; . Other names include Vehicle Dynamics Control (Subaru), Dynamic Stability Control (Volvo), Vehicle Stability Assist (Honda), and Vehicle Stability Control (Toyota)....
And all these help in keeping the car ina straight line with complete driver control in any adverse situation........
a clear question if any, please........... |

i thought abs was to control brakes only.. like to prevent skidding while braking(only during braking) and traction control or stability control was something else to to maintain the stability of car under all conditions.. no matter what you are doin accelarating or braking.. and so the thought that these two systems might be integrated came to my mind.. but later came to know tat one eas a development and extension of the other..
and also think about the last statement you made about keeping the car in a straight line.. i think its keepin the grip bw the car and the road not necessarily in a straight line.. |

yes, but when the car begins skidding and veering off course, brakes are applied on particular brakes, with required force..
this in turn results in that side of the car sliding in the opposite direction giving better control |

well, it cost around 35000 to incorporate on current cars, hence companies give it as option..
and people don't seem to find it worthwhile investing on |

wel, you say that..
But how much money do you think you can pay to save your life?
Could it be too expensive if it means that in a life or death situation, you just about scraped through??
better still, if you knocked somebody off the road coz u din have ABS, u'd have to spend the better part of your life going around in circles behind the cops lolz... |
